YSL Touche Eclat (Review a Day #7)

It's finally time for my last review of this week, and I have saved the best for last for you guys - the Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Radiant Touch!

Made in France....fancy!

After watching so many YouTubers rave about this, it was on the top of my wishlist for months and months - the only thing stopping me from buying it was it's price tag! It can go for a whopping $70.00 in New Zealand which I thought was way too much to pay for what it is, but when my dad went to America I saw it was on sale for $23.00! Of course, this was way to great of a bargain for me to pass up, so I ordered it off Amazon.

I got this in Shade #1, which, when it arrived, I thought would be way too light for me, but it turned out to be perfect! Since it's a highlighter, you are supposed to go a shade or so lighter than your foundation, so it lightens areas that are usually dark like under the eyes.

Next - the packaging. I absolutely love the packaging that this comes in - the pen is beautiful! When I first got it, I spent a good 30 minutes gawking at it....oops!

On to the actual product - I love it! I also have the Maybelline Dream Lumi highlighting concealer, which has been said to be a dupe for it, and while I think that the Dream Lumi might be more effective as a concealer, as a highlighter the Touche Eclat is so much better. It is great for under the eyes, on the cheekbones, around the nose and even around the mouth and eyebrows. It has got a bit of flack recently but I think that's because people don't really understand what it's for! While it does help conceal under eye bags and spots, it is technically a highlighter which is used for a different purpose.

Overall, I love this product! I can just slip it into my makeup bag and it is so versatile! I use it a lot when I'm going out or if I have particularly bad undereye circles.  The only problem with it is the price - unless it comes back on sale I won't be able to repurchase it.

Thank-you to everyone who's been reading my Review a Day week - it has been really fun to write! I love experimenting with my blog and trying lots of new things.  I think you can expect a few more things like this in the future!

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder (Review a Day #6)

It's time for my second to last review of my Review a Day week! Sorry this is a bit late - my computer stuffed up and didn't post it yesterday when it was supposed to!
Anyway, today's review is of the Rimmel Stay Matte powder in 'Cashmere' (008). I got this on sale from K-Mart for $9.00, which is a great price considering how much make up costs in New Zealand!

I got this mainly because I didn't have any pressed powder and I often have a problem with looking shiny in photos, and the Stay Matte powder claims to have 'up to 5 hours of natural shine control'.

I wasn't going to buy it at first, since 'Cashmere' was the only shade left and I thought it might be a little dark but I decided to just try it out since it was so cheap, and I'm so glad I did! It works really well for minimizing shine in photos, and it has a really nice, natural finish. I have worn it loads since I bought it, and I find that the Sephora Blush/Powder brush works really well to apply it.

I have never really been one for pressed powders because I find they can make your face look a bit cakey and un-natural but this is really good to just even out your skin tone and make your pores appear smaller. The only drawback of this is that if you have dry skin, it might not be the best as it is a powder and it could possibly dry out your skin even more, but if you have oily or combination skin like me, then it's great!

Overall, I think this is a great product. It does it's job and doesn't bust your budget!

Stay tuned for more reviews - a new one is coming every day this week!

Covergirl All Day Lipcolour (Review a Day #5)

Today I had a real problem trying to find the perfect thing for Day 5 of my Review a Day week. After rummaging through my makeup drawer, and then my makeup bag, and then my makeup box (yes, I really need better storage for my growing collection!), I found my Covergirl All Day lip colour in 'My Papaya'. I bought this a while back from Postie Plus for some ridiculously cheap price, and I used it heaps for a while but then for some reason it got hidden away in the dark corners of my makeup collection. I know that this will be the third lip product in a row, but I really wanted to show it to you guys! I will make it up to you with my next reviews I promise! *warning - this is a photo heavy post!*

So the little set comes with an 'all-day colourcoat' which is like a liquid lipstick and actually reminds me a lot of the Rimmel Apocalips collection, as well as a moisturizing top coat stick.

Let me tell you, this does it's job. If you want a lip colour that stays on all day, then this is for you! It is actually really hard to take off, as it dries after a few minutes. It does dry out your lips, but that is the whole point of the moisturizing top coat. I think including the top coat was a great idea, because then you get a lip colour that lasts all day but is still moisturizing and hassle free. The top coat does work really well, but you might have to re-apply it through out the day if you want your lips nice and glossy and moisturized.

I would definitely recommend this product, especially as I don't think it's very expensive. I can't remember exactly how much I got it for, but Covergirl products generally aren't too much. However, I have heard that the new formula is not as good and long lasting as the old one (which is the one I have), but I personally haven't tried out the new one yet. Maybe in the future I will buy a new version and compare the two! But, from my experience, this lip colour is really good and lasts for ages, and it will definitely be coming out of hiding and into my makeup bag from now on!

Revlon Coral Berry Lipstick (Review a Day #4)

Hey everyone! Today is the fourth day of my Review a Day week where I review one beauty product every day for a week. I have another lip product for you today - it's one I have been loving recently! It's the Revlon lipstick in 'Coral Berry'.

It looks way more orange-y in this photo than in real life!

As the name suggests it is a pinkish coral, and it has often been called a dupe for MAC's Vegas Volt. I think though that Coral Berry is more pink while Vegas Volt is more orangey red. I love both colours though, as I am quite into corals at the moment!

It is quite pigmented and has a pretty good colour payoff which I like, and is pretty long wearing! It also is quite shimmery, which I both like and dislike - it really depends on the look I am going for that day. I really like the fact that it doesn't dry out your lips so you can just pop it on without worrying about using primer or any other lip products beforehand.

I love this lipstick because while it adds a pop of colour, it's not incredibly bright or bold. I don't usually go for really bright lipsticks because I tend to get quite self conscious about things like that but I'm sure as I get older I will get more used to it!

Revlon Just Kissable Lip Stain (Review a Day #3)

I may or may not have a little bit of an obsession with the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lip Stains....I already have three and I have most of the other colours on my wishlist! The one I'm going to review today is in the colour 'Honey' (001).This also has been featured before on my blog in my American Goodies post. Although you can buy these in New Zealand, they are way overpriced so while my dad was in America, I decided to pick one up!

Excuse my awkward hand haha!

I love this colour, because it's quite different to a lot of my other lip products, and it's not too bold so I can wear it everyday. The colour payoff is quite good, but I have found that it doesn't last the whole day which is unfortunate, but it's really easy to apply on the go. The only other problem I have had with my other Just Bitten lip stains is that they aren't very moisturizing, but this one seems to be a bit better than the others. It is also a bit more glossy.

I would definitely recommend this colour as well - Honey is a dusty pink which is almost a 'your lips but better' shade and it goes with almost everything!

I love all of the colours in this collection, and I find them so easy to apply! They are also a great price (if you don't live in New Zealand!), so if you haven't already, go check them out!

Bourjois Liner Effect Mascara! (Review a Day #2)

Hey guys! Welcome to my second 'Review A Day' post!
Today I thought I would brighten up your Tuesday with one of my favourite beauty products so far this month - the Bourjois Liner Effect mascara in 'Brown'. This was actually on my blog last week in the 'Queen's Birthday Haul' post.

This mascara was an amazing bargain - it was in the Makeup Direct $5 box! I have never tried anything from Bourjois before, but I have heard so many beauty bloggers rave about the brand, so I really wanted to give it a go!

First off, I love the fact that it's brown. I know that loads of people don't go near brown mascaras and only go for black, but I think that it looks less harsh and more natural which is great for a natural, everyday look. I also love that it has smaller bristles at the bottom - the website says that this is for 'depositing formula at the base of the lashes to emphasise roots for a liner effect', but I find it perfect for putting mascara on my bottom lashes.

The only setback with this mascara is that the bristles are very long, and not at all soft so you have to be careful while applying it so you don't get them in your eyes (which has happened to me a few times!)

Benefit Most Glamourous Nudes Ever Kit (Review-A-Day #1)

Hey guys! It's time for the  first installment of my Review-A-Day week. For those of you who don't know, for every day this week I am reviewing a different beauty product!

Today I decided to review the Benefit World Famous Neutrals 'Most Glamorous Nudes' eyeshadow kit. I got this from the U.S not too long ago (check out my American Goodies blog post for more details!). Usually it costs around $50 but I picked it up off Sephora for $30! It comes with four longwear powder shadows and two creaseless cream shadows which I was particularly excited about because I love cream eyeshadows!

All the colours are so amazing, and I love the little booklet it comes with, because it has two tutorials - one for a natural look, and one for a night-time/going out look. This kit is perfect for me because I have a slight obsession with gold and bronze eyeshadows! My personal favourite colours would have to be 'Gilt-y Pleasure' and 'My Two Cents'.

I would definitely recommend this set, as it is so cute and comes with a range of colours which is really useful! For example 'Call My Buff' is great for highlighting! I'm sure if I do any tutorials in the future, this kit will make an appearance, because I have been using most days and I love experimenting with the colours for different looks!

Review a Day!

Hey guys! I know I have been pretty slack with my posts lately, so to make it up to you, I have decided to go all out and post one review of a random beauty product each day for the next week, starting tomorrow! This is kind of a new thing I wanted to try, so let me know your thoughts on it -also, if you have seen anything on my blog that you want me to review just leave a comment and I will get back to you.
Have a great weekend everyone!

American Goodies!

I didn't think it was possible, but I have managed to spend MORE money this week on makeup. My dad works in America so he has to go over there a few times a year, giving me the perfect opportunity to splurge on makeup that I can't get or is ridiculously expensive in New Zealand! He came back yesterday, and I am absolutely in love with everything I got, so I decided that I had to blog about it!

The first thing I got is the Benefit World Famous Neutrals eyeshadow kit in Most Glamourous Nudes Ever. I got this off Sephora on sale for around $30.00 US, and I just fell in love with it when I saw it on their website - it's so pretty! The box is so so cute, and of course comes with a 'tips and tricks' booklet and a little mirror inside. It comes with two Creaseless Cream shadows in 'Birthday Suit' and 'My Two Cents' as well as four Longwear Powder shadows in 'Call My Buff', 'It's Complicated', 'Gilt-y Pleasure' and 'Kiss Me, I'm Tipsy'. I love this kit, and I'm sure it will feature in many future blog posts!

The next thing I got is the Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch highlighting concealer in 'Ivory'. I had heard pretty good things about this concealer, and I have been wanting a highlighting pen concealer for ages, and I picked this up for a great price of $8.00. I haven't tried this out yet, but I will get back to you on how it looks!

Next up, I got the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable lip stain in 'Honey'. I actually got this in New Zealand a few weeks ago, but being the complete klutz I am, I dropped it on the first day I bought it, and it broke! I tried fixing it but nothing really worked, so my (amazing) dad picked this up for me in America where it's way cheaper! I love these lip stains - this is my third one, and I'm already eyeing up the next few ones I want!

Last, but definitely not least, I got the YSL Touche Eclat concealer pen. I have been wanting this for so so long, after seeing loads of bloggers and Youtubers rave about it, but I could never find an excuse to buy it because of how pricey it is (it goes for up to $70 in New Zealand!). That's actually why I bought the Maybelline Dream Lumi concealer, because I read that it was a dupe for the YSL concealer. But after my dad had been gone for a few days and I had already ordered the Maybelline concealer, I saw that the YSL Touche Eclat was on sale for $23! This was such a great bargain that I couldn't resist, and I had to buy it. I haven't used it yet, but it looks amazing, and the packaging is so so pretty, so expect a review soon!

Sorry about two hauls in a row, but I couldn't resist sharing these with you! Hope you enjoyed the post anyway :)

Queen's Birthday Haul!

Hey everyone! This Monday it was the Queen's Birthday Holiday (it's not on her actual birthday though, which is strange but I'm not complaining!), so we had an extra day off school, then on Tuesday, our school had a teacher only day, which meant in total we had a 4 day weekend! This, of course, meant a shopping trip (or two) with my friends!

I didn't get too many things this weekend though because I'm broke at the moment - without a job, my little makeup obsession has been taking it's toll on my bank account! I did find some great bargains though that I will share with you guys!
The complete haul! (minus the canvas)

Rimmel Soft Kohl Pencil eyeliner
Bourjois Liner Effect mascara
Rimmel Stay Matte pressed powder
Typo polaroid canvas

First off, I went to K-Mart which is a little bit like Walmart (I think!), for those of you who don't live in New Zealand! Rimmel London was having a great sale which was $5.00 off every product and since I can't resist a good bargain, I picked up two things - the Stay Matte pressed powder in 'Cashmere' (008) and the Soft Kohl eyeliner pencil in 'Sable Brown'. I haven't tried the powder yet, and I'm worried it will be a little dark for me, but it was the only colour left and for $9.50 it was such a bargain that I couldn't resist! Also, I have a problem with always looking shiny in photos and I wanted to see if this would help! I bought the eyeliner pencil because I love brown eyeliner and I lost mine when I went on holiday, and for $5.00 this was perfect!

On this trip I also picked up this Typo canvas. Typo is an amazing stationary and decorations store which is owned by Cotton On, and they were having a sale and I found this amazing polaroid camera canvas for only $6.00! I thought the design was really cute, and I love polaroid cameras, and it was so so cheap that I just couldn't not buy it! Also, I'm re-designing my room at the moment so it will be perfect to hang up once that's done.

On my second shopping trip I only bought one thing (excluding a couple of Dunkin' Donuts!!), which was the  Bourjois Liner Effect mascara in Brown. This was an amazing deal, as I picked it up for only $5.00 from Makeup Direct! This is supposed to give the effect that you are wearing kohl eyeliner, by emphasizing the roots of your lashes, which I thought sounded interesting. It also 'is enriched with kohl to intensify the result'! I will give this a try and get back to you with the results!

So that's all of the things I bought and got up to over the weekend -there will definitely be reviews coming! What did you guys get up to this weekend?
